Hi, You're welcome to use any or
all of the pictures. I'm building a bath house right now,
hope to have it finished by my 70th birthday in July. I would
say that building a pool is not rocket science but it's not for
those that aren't willing to work hard and persevere. I did
the whole thing by myself except the concrete collar and
deck. I hired that done because I couldn't move that much
concrete by myself in the time it had to be done.
I made mistakes. The
biggest being that I dug the slope to cover 8 feet instead of 14
feet. I had to hand dig about a yard or two of dirt to fix
that. I do have a little tractor with a loader and I filled
the loader with a shovel and moved the dirt with the
tractor.
The pool
was built into a hillside and we have castle blocks on two
sides. In the beginning I tried to hire someone experienced
to dig the pool but could find no one nearby. I rented a mini
excavator and dug it myself even through I had never been on one in
my life. It was kind of fun after I figured out how to make
the thing move, you have to have the arm rest down or it won't do
anything and I was too proud to call the rental company after they
dropped it off, I just sat there pushing buttons until I figured it
out. I overdug on the side and had to fill the gouge with
vermiculite but vermiculite is cheap and
forgiving.
